Text message alerts

What Birdie Recon sends by text, how you switch it on, and how you stop it.

This page is in force — effective 16 August 2026. Unlike the unfinished sections of our Terms, nothing here is a placeholder. It describes our text-message (SMS) alert programme: what we send, how you switch it on, and how you stop it.

Status

Text alerts are not sending yet. Birdie Recon is watching courses now, but no alerts are going out by any channel. Everything below describes the programme as it will run when it starts, and it is published now so that nobody — customer or carrier — has to take it on trust later.

What this page covers

This page is about text messages sent to your mobile number by SMS. That is the programme described below, and it is the one registered with the mobile carriers.

The panel on your account screen is labelled Text and WhatsApp, so it is worth saying what that does and does not mean: whether we also offer WhatsApp as an alternative way of delivering the same alerts is not settled, and nothing on this page is a commitment either way. If another delivery channel is ever offered, it will be its own choice with its own consent — never something this box switches on — and it will be described here before a single message goes out on it. Email alerts are unaffected by any of this and never need a phone number.

The programme

One programme, one purpose: tee-time alerts, sent by Global Partners, LLC d/b/a Birdie Recon to a mobile number you enter yourself, and only after you tick the consent box next to it.

  • Who sends the messages: Global Partners, LLC d/b/a Birdie Recon.
  • What they are: alerts about openings on the tee-time watches you set up, and service messages about those watches. No third-party marketing is sent to that number.
  • How you opt in: by ticking a separate, unchecked-by-default consent box next to your mobile number on your account screen. It is its own checkbox — accepting the terms is not consent to texts, and consent to texts is not acceptance of the terms.
  • Frequency: recurring, and it varies — a message goes out when one of your watches finds a match, so how many you get depends on the watches you set and what the tee sheets do. You set the floor yourself: every watch has a cooldown, and we will not message you about the same watch again inside it. We have not run the programme yet, so we are not going to print an average we cannot stand behind — a real figure goes here once we have one to report.
  • Message and data rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP to cancel. Reply HELP for help.
  • Coming back after a STOP: text START to us from that same mobile number. A STOP is recorded against the number itself rather than against the account, so re-ticking the consent box on the account screen does not undo it — the handset that opted out is the only place that can opt back in. That is deliberate: mobile numbers get reassigned, and the person holding the phone is the person whose choice it is. We put no expiry on an opt-out; it stands until that number says otherwise.
  • Consent is not a condition of buying anything or of using the service. Email alerts never require a phone number, and refusing texts does not reduce what else you get.
  • Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

How you opt in

The consent box sits on your account screen, next to the mobile number field. It is behind a sign-in, because that is where your number is — so the exact wording is reproduced here rather than described.

  1. Sign in and open Account.
  2. Open Where we reach you → Text and WhatsApp.
  3. Enter your mobile number and choose your carrier.
  4. Tick the consent box. It starts unticked every time, it is a box of its own, and it is not bundled with accepting any terms.
  5. Save. Without the tick, we will not store a number to text.

The checkbox, verbatim

☐ Text me Birdie Recon tee-time alerts at this number.

Global Partners, LLC d/b/a Birdie Recon will send text alerts for the tee-time watches you set up — you get a message when one of your watches finds a match, so the messages are recurring and the frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. See our Privacy Notice and Terms of Service. This box covers text alerts and nothing else — it is not acceptance of the terms, and accepting the terms is not consent to texts. Consent is not a condition of buying or using Birdie Recon, and it never will be: email alerts never require a phone number, and leaving this box unticked does not stop them.

Consent is not a condition of buying or using Birdie Recon. Email alerts never need a phone number, and leaving the box unticked does not stop them.

Consent to texts from Birdie Recon is consent to texts from Birdie Recon and nothing else. Global Partners, LLC operates other brands, and ticking the box here does not opt you in to messages from any of them — nor does a box ticked on one of theirs opt you in to ours. Each brand collects its own consent on its own screen, and a STOP applies to the brand whose message it answers.

Sample messages

An alert looks like this — the course, how many times opened, when, and a link you use to book it yourself on the course’s own site:

Birdie Recon: 2 tee times open at Van Cortlandt Park (2026-09-14 07:40). Book: https://golf-nyc.book.teeitup.com/…

And these are the replies you get for the keywords, word for word as we send them:

  • STOP → “Birdie Recon: you’re unsubscribed and will get no further texts from this number. Reply START to resubscribe.”
  • START → “Birdie Recon: you’re resubscribed to tee time alerts. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.”
  • HELP → “Birdie Recon tee time alerts. Help: support@birdierecon.com. Reply STOP to opt out. Msg & data rates may apply.”

Nothing else is sent to that number. No marketing, no offers, no messages from any other brand.

How you stop it

Any one of these withdraws your consent. All of them work, none of them needs our agreement, and stopping the texts never stops your watches or your email alerts.

  • Reply STOP to any message. That number is unsubscribed and we will send one final confirmation and nothing after it. The opt-out is held against the number, it has no expiry date, and only START from that same number lifts it.
  • Untick the text-alert consent box on your account screen, or clear the mobile number entirely. Either one stops the texts. Both act on the account, so neither is a substitute for STOP if what you want is the number itself on our do-not-text list — and neither can override a STOP that number has already sent.
  • Email support@birdierecon.com from the address on your account and ask us to stop.
  • Reply HELP to any message for help, or use the same address above.

What we do with your number

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories of sharing described in our Privacy Notice exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; that information will not be shared with any third parties. We do not sell it. The only parties who see your number are the messaging aggregators and carriers who have to carry the message to your handset.

The full account is in the Privacy Notice, under “Phone numbers and text messages” — a section that is in force, not a draft.
